Bharva Bhindi Recipe

Bharva Bhindi, also known as stuffed okra or ladyfinger, is a delicious Indian dish where okra is stuffed with a flavorful mixture of spices. Here's a simple recipe for making Bharva Bhindi:

Ingredients:

250 grams okra (ladyfinger)

2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Salt to taste

For the Stuffing:

2 tablespoons besan (gram flour)

2 tablespoons dry coconut powder

1 tablespoon coriander powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon amchur (dry mango powder)

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder

Salt to taste

1 tablespoon oil

2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves

Wash the okra under running water and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Trim the ends of the okra and make a lengthwise slit on one side without cutting it into halves. Keep them aside.

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients listed under "For the Stuffing" except oil and coriander leaves.

Stuff each okra with the prepared mixture. Make sure to press the stuffing gently into the okra.

Heat oil in a wide pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Carefully place the stuffed okra in the pan in a single layer. Sprinkle some salt over them.

Cook the okra on medium heat for 5 minutes without stirring. Then, gently flip them over and cook for another 5 minutes.

Continue to cook, flipping occasionally, until the okra is tender and the stuffing is golden brown and crisp. This may take about 15-20 minutes.

Once the okra is cooked through, sprinkle chopped coriander leaves over them and gently toss.

Remove from heat and serve hot Bharwan Bhindi with roti or paratha.

Tips:

Make sure to select tender okra for better results.

Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.

You can also add grated paneer or crushed peanuts to the stuffing for variation.

Be gentle while handling the stuffed okra to prevent them from breaking apart.
